It Doesn't Wash

Christians are justifying voting for Donald Trump by saying they're voting for a President, not a pastor. Statements like those get scoffed at and generate push back against the Church because the following is how their actions are really viewed:  If the person you vote for is a murderer, you are supporting a murderer. If they're a serial killer, you're supporting a serial killer. If they're a bigot/racist, you're supporting a bigot/racist. If they're a rapist, you're supporting a rapist. If they're a habitual liar, you're supporting a habitual liar. If they're a nasty and contentious person, you're supporting a nasty and contentious person. If they're a cheat and con, you're supporting a cheat and con.  So...these quips flying around as justification just don't wash, especially with the world...you know, those souls we're supposed to be winning for Christ. Just keepin' it real...

Grow Up Already!

Being a Babe in Christ isn't about the number of years you've been professing to be a Christian. It has everything to do with how carnal (can't understand or apply the truth of the Word, controlled by fleshly desires, wants, and passions) you are. We start out as Babes in Christ when we first become Christians but at some point, there should be/has to be some growth. We have to "grow up".  Some folk have been Christians for decades but are still Babes in Christ. They're just as carnal now as they were on day one of their conversion.   They see themselves as mighty lions when they're still babes that can only digest formula and pablum. They need constant and repeated redirection from things, people, and choices that can hurt or mislead them. It's easy to identify the Babes in Christ by what they do, what they allow, and without a doubt...what comes out of their mouths. Just keepin' it real...

Why Black Folk Vote Democratic

Why do Black folk vote Democratic? It's not because we're ignorant, and it has nothing to do with having a plantation mentality.  If you really want to know, here's a simplified historical breakdown of why.  Slavery: * Republican Party ended slavery. * Southern Democratic Party fought for slavery. * Northern Democratic Party was against slavery.  Post-Civil War thru Reconstruction: * Republican Party was for Black civil and political rights and was considered the Negro dominated party. * Southern Democrats were against any rights for Black folk and considered themselves the White man's party. Note: This is when the switch is Democratic and Republican Party ideologies slowly began.  By Post-Reconstruction (1877): * Republican Party began to lose political interest in the plight of the freed slaves and began to support big business. * Southern Democrats (the White man's party) took back/recaptured their states, passing Jim Crow laws to facilitate keeping Black folk su...

Who Changed?

I remember when fraud, adultery, porn, lying, sexual sin, bigotry, cheating, nastiness, etc. were Bible thumping sermons declaring God is not pleased and you'd better repent. Now, the Church (some, not all) knowingly elevate folk who live in such places into positions of leadership and power declaring them to be men/women of God, sent by God, and approved by Him. Who changed?  The Bible says God does not change...so who changed? Instead of reflecting and repenting after seeing the consequences of elevating folk who boldly live in contradiction to the Word, there are STILL those in the Church ready and willing to do it AGAIN. But you know what? God is still not pleased with sin for He does not change.  If sin was wrong yesterday, it's still wrong today for God does not change. If God has not changed, then who changed? Just keepin' it real...

Wrong is Wrong

* She should be fired. * She should be disbarred. * She's unfit for her job. * She's a wh***. * Nasty quips regarding her body shape. * Hateful statements about how she looks. That's just a tiny portion of the negative things said and shared about Fani Willis--the Black woman who is also the District Attorney of Fulton County, Georgia--by MAGA and other Republicans when her affair with a married man was exposed. Trump's extramarital affairs and sleaziness are now waving in the wind before the world.  * Where's that outrage now?  * Where are the calls for him to not run for public office?  * Where are the declarations that he's unfit to hold the highest office in this Nation? What I am hearing is his followers giving him passes left and right. Trump's extramarital affairs are no big deal. They are just not that important to them.   Adultery is just as wrong and appalling for Trump as it was in Fani's case. If Fani deserves to be severely punished and fire...

Seasons of Life: The Good and The Not So Good

Some folk have a crisis of faith because they're constantly fed "do this and God will do that for you" and "give to get" sermons but things happen differently. This is what I mean... * Give and it'll come back to you in a larger measure--house, car, canceled debt, lots of cash, etc. Instead, you struggle to make ends meet. * Sacrificial offerings will be returned double fold. Yet, your lights were still turned off and your bills are past due. * Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Yet, it's been years and the expected answer to your prayers hasn't come. Note: When we delight ourselves on the Lord, His desires for us become the desires of our heart. The desires of our heart will line up with His will for us. It doesn't mean it's Christmas and our birthday and we get the things on our wish list. * Just believe...all things are possible if you only believe. Yet, your body is still screaming with pain...

The Soul is More Important Than Dirt

Our soul is where our personality, intellect, will, and emotions reside. It's who we are. When somebody says, "You know how they are," the statement is referring to characteristics of our soul.  This is the part of us that dies daily to become more like Christ. This is the part of us the living Word operates on to remove everything that doesn't reflect the image of Christ. Our body can be seen as the shell or house for our soul.  Our soul controls the actions of our body. What am I saying?  Sinful actions begin in the mind and are then acted out by the body. When we die, the body/shell/house turns to dust.  Our current body is not glorified. It's not eternal. It's...dirt. At the rapture, we will get new, glorified, and eternal bodies. The Great Commission of the Church--what we are supposed to be about--is to win SOULS for Christ. Instead of carrying out the Commission, the Church seems to have gotten things twisted and is more focused on saving the body--dirt...
