Stop Frontin'

Let's talk about it. If you need something from me, the best way to ensure you WON'T get it is to talk trash about me, lie on/about me, threaten me, attack me or mess with mine. I know Christians are supposed to turn the other cheek...Be honest, after a hit and a "stingin' cheek", you're saying, "Jesus, give me 5 minutes to handle this...just 5," AS you're tensing to go all in. Even if you don't make a move, it's zooming around full speed in your mind, so don't go gettin' all deep. 😁 The older I get, the less patience I have with religious hypocrisy. The older I get, the more I also hear, "Shut your mouth!", "Swallow it!", "Don't say it!" and "Delete it!"😁 I die daily. 😳 Thank God for His grace and mercy. 😁 I grew up in a Holiness Pentecostal church...a sanctified church. Even though I wasn't a Christian, I knew what being a Christian was all about. It wasn't until a COGIC Mi...

Christian...What does it mean, anyway?

Let's talk about it... I've heard several literal meanings of Christian: Little Christ, a follower of Christ and Christ like. This is what 2 Corinthians says. I'll drop the EASY version so the understanding is clear.  2 Corinthians 3:3 (EasyEnglish Bible) It is clear that you are a like a letter that Christ himself has written. We are the people who brought God's message to you. Now people see what God has done in your lives. That is like a letter that they read. But it is not a letter written on paper with ink. It is the Spirit of the living God who wrote it. He did not write it on pieces of stone. Instead, he wrote it deep inside you.[a] So Christians should be the "walking epistles" of Christ. When folk watch us/read our lives, they should see Him--who He is, what He represents and His love. For some of today's Christians, this is what their epistle says about Christ. 📕 They support bigots and racists, so Christ is ok with bigotry and racism. 📕 They s...

A Past That's Still the Present

It's in the past...move on and leave it there.  Let's talk about it... Folk agree People of Color faced hardships, degradation and discrimination in the past. Most are appalled it was allowed to happen.  Too many also believe it's all in the past and People of Color should just move on and leave it there.  Here's the thing, how can we leave it in the past when the mentality that resulted in the past hardships, degradation and discrimination is still present TODAY?  Laws have checked it by guaranteeing our rights to have fair and equal treatment, access and representation, but they didn't kill it. As we've seen recently, those restraints and guarantees are only as secure and sure as the folk in power allow them to be.  See, we know because our life experiences have repeatedly taught us that it's a bigoted, prejudiced, and racist teacher, boss, cop, politician, judge, doctor, business owner, co-worker, shopper, neighbor, pastor, church member, etc., encounter ...
