Christian...What does it mean, anyway?

Let's talk about it...

I've heard several literal meanings of Christian: Little Christ, a follower of Christ and Christ like.

This is what 2 Corinthians says. I'll drop the EASY version so the understanding is clear. 

2 Corinthians 3:3 (EasyEnglish Bible)

It is clear that you are a like a letter that Christ himself has written. We are the people who brought God's message to you. Now people see what God has done in your lives. That is like a letter that they read. But it is not a letter written on paper with ink. It is the Spirit of the living God who wrote it. He did not write it on pieces of stone. Instead, he wrote it deep inside you.[a]

So Christians should be the "walking epistles" of Christ. When folk watch us/read our lives, they should see Him--who He is, what He represents and His love.

For some of today's Christians, this is what their epistle says about Christ.

📕 They support bigots and racists, so Christ is ok with bigotry and racism.

📕 They support and shield folk who break children, so Christ doesn't have a problem with pedophilia.

📕 They support serial liars, so Christ is cool with a lying tongue.

📕 They support hunting folk down because of the color of their skin--racial profiling, so Christ is good with that too.

📕 They support those boldly committing corruption, so Christ is ok with corruption.

📕 They support discrimination, so Christ is ok with discriminating and disenfranchising people.

📕 They support folk who run cons and grifts, so Christ has no problem with conning and grifting people.

📕 They support heartless and mean spirited actions, so Christ is good with that as well. 

📕 They support lawlessness, so Christ doesn't have a problem with lawlessness. 

📕 They support rapists, so Christ is ok with rape. 

📕 They're support those who trod on the less fortunate, so Christ is ok with trampling on the less fortunate. 

📕 They support folk who bragged about moving on women and grabbing them by their private part, so Christ is ok with sexual assault too.

📕 They support folk who drop bombs on and kill the innocent, so Christ is ok with drawing innocent blood.

The folk and actions some of today's Christians support, Christ would've openly rebuked. In fact, God's Word REBUKES and FORBIDS it. 

🗣 These folk need a new name to call themselves for they are NOT Little Christs, followers of Christ or Christ like. He's NOT the story their epistles tells.
