He said it, they did it, and they're doing it again.

"We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian."

                      - Adolf Hitler, October 27, 1928

Yes, Hitler really did say that. Let's talk about it...

👩🏾‍🏫 This was part of his tactics to deceive the German's Christian majority and gain their  support.

I wonder how many Christians called him a "Man of God" or "The Second Christ" during that time and got fightin' mad when someone pointed out the contradictions they'd seen...or perceived. 🤔

👩🏾‍🏫  Anywhoo...Hitler's tactic worked: Many Christians believed, received, and doggedly supported.

👩🏾‍🏫 After he used them to gain power and stopped playing Christian, the Christian reaction was mixed:

 * Some resisted in any way they could.

 * Some aided the oppressed and persecuted.

 * Some continued to doggedly support Hitler.

 * Some became Nazi informants (snitches) to aid his evil regime.

 * Some became part of the "German Christian" movement. This movement within the German Evangelical Church sought to integrate Nazism and Christianity. These Christians promoted Hitler as a divine or messianic figure.

What resulted was an evil, hate filled, unbiblical, oppressive mess.

👩🏾‍🏫 Hitler's long-term plan was to completely eradicate Christianity and some Christians helped him.

He spoke to the hate and bigotry already stewing in their hearts, giving them permission to let the hate and bigotry live.

👩🏾‍🏫 Because they were of the same mind, many saw nothing wrong with what Hitler was doing: He was right, those who opposed him were wrong and deserved to be punished.

👩🏾‍🏫 When Hitler died, the reactions varied.

  * Some were elated.

  * Some were overwhelmingly relieved.

  * The scales finally fell from eyes and some  became guilty and ashamed for supporting him.

  * Some grieved deeply and committed suicide.

👩🏾‍🏫 My summary:

Ecclesiastes 1:9 KJV

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
