Relationship Is Essential And Should Be Recognizable

Relationship is essential and should be recognizable.

Through the years and varied relationships with people, I have come to the conclusion that there's a difference between Christians and born-again, Bible believing Christians.

I grew up in an old-fashioned COGIC sanctified church where there was an expected standard of living of anyone who said they were saved and any who knowingly dropped that standard were directed to the alter for repentance and renewal/refreshing.

After I left home, I was able to differentiate between Church rules established for the good of the congregation and Bible teachings, but I'm SO grateful for the foundational teachings.

In my experience, some Christians live like anything-goes-as-long-as-it-feels-good. It's a permissive way of living. You have no idea they're a Christian until they flip "the Christian here" switch.

On the other hand, born-again, Bible believing Christians have a relationship with Christ that permeates their existence. No switch is needed to announce their Christianity because it's walked out in their daily lives and choices. He's there and recognizable. They don't have to announce that they're a Christian, those who encounter them can sense Him. Their relationship with Him is one of stripping themselves and putting on more of Him.

Ever interacted with a complete stranger and they end that encounter with God bless you or have a blessed day? Believe me, they don't say that to everyone because they know everyone will not appreciate it or be receptive. During their encounter with you, they recognized or sensed Him.

Our relationship with Christ is essential. Just like any other relationship, it has to be nurtured. The  more we strip ourselves (die daily) according to His Word, the more of Him permeates our lives.

This understanding has really helped me in my dealings with people who claim to be Christians--especially the "really saved ones" who are sometimey, foul-mouthed, and exclusive.

I make sure my heart is clear and intentionally interact with these kind of folk in some way to let them know there IS a problem here...but it's not mine.

Yeah, I'm one of those folk who will loudly yell, "AMEN!" when I know somebody is preaching AT me. 😁

Just keepin' it real...
