Just Teach Them 2 + 2 = 4 and The ABCs.
I love the Word of God. There is no other written word like it.
I also believe Christianity is all about choice.
* We chose to believe the Word.
* We chose to accept the work Christ did for us on the cross.
* We chose to obey or disobey the Word of God.
Christianity is not about force feeding or ramming the Word down anyone's throats. That is NOT what "compel them to come" means.
Force feeding and ramming the Word down someone's throat only satisfies the religious hypocrisy of the people doing the ramming.
Government officials are mandating that the Bible and Ten Commandments (which are also a part of the Bible) be taught in schools.
Some Christians are having praise breaks because of the rulings.
Let me ask you this: If a Muslim becomes a State Governor or School Superintendent and mandates that their religious text, the Koran, be taught in schools, will Christians think that's worthy of a praise break? Will they be ecstatic about their little Johnny and Suzy being forced to listen to Islamic teachings while being taught 2 + 2 = 4 and the ABCs?
The answer is NO. They'd be outraged.
Yes, learning the Word of God is a good thing but send Johnny and Suzy to Sunday School or teach them the Ten Commandments and Jesus wept at home like my mom did.
They can also attend a religious private school that's in line with your religious teachings.
Public schools, where there's a mixture of children from many different religious denominations and doctrines is not any one religion's or denomination's pulpit.
Almost twenty years ago, the Supreme Court ruled devotional prayer and Bible readings in public schools are unconstitutional. What happened to obeying the law of land? Does that only apply when it backs up a stance?
Did the Pilgrims set out for the New World seeking conservatism or religious freedom?
Hypocrisy causes divisiveness, variance (quarreling), and contentions. I believe the Word we love--or claim to love--so much also speaks about those things.
Just keepin' it real...
