It is what you have made it...

Let's talk about it...

When people pass away, have you noticed that folk tend to slap halos πŸ˜‡ and wings on 'em?

Their life can be one of dirt, hurting, harming, and nasty. But when they die, they'll be portrayed as the holiest saint to ever walk this earth. 😁

They can leave behind many walking and bleeding wounded in their wake and yet, they'll be eulogized as the most caring and loving person ever.

My religious upbringing taught me that we should live this life, preparing for the next/eternity. The state you die in, determines how you will spend eternity for death is followed by accountability/judgement.

Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

This is now ingrained into my belief system, so I strive to live my life so that when it ends and I face accountability for how I've lived my life, my final destination will be Heaven--in His presence, where there's no more pain or sorrow and there's profound peace and joy.

My teachings leave no room for slapping halos and wings on "bad/mean/hateful/nasty/contentious" people who died as they lived. I'll feel like I'm lyin'...That's just me🀷🏾‍♀️. Death is the end of our grace period to get right with God. After that, it is what YOU have made it.

I know there are different doctrines and belief systems, I'm sharing mine so you will clearly understand what I mean when I close this post.

When I encounter a situation where a person is nearing their end, my prayer is that the Lord would minister to them as they lie there.

Why do I do that? Before becoming a Christian, my stepfather became deathly ill and they thought he was on his way out. He didn't die, but he left his sick bed a changed man--a born-again, Bible believing Christian. I asked my mom what happened? She said he was like that when he came to himself in the ICU. A spiritual transformation happened to him as he laid there connected to a breathing machine. He lived many years after as a  changed man.

Many times, people have witnessed decades of contention, meanness, hatefulness, ugly, etc., not those final few seconds where change may...or may not have occurred. Isn't it a good thing we don't determine eternal destinations. 😁

Yet, some folk spit polish the deceased's life, attach a halo, and pin on wings, while others are thinking, "Wait...are they talkin' about the same Susie/John?" πŸ‘€

Listen, I have zero interest in arguing doctrines and belief systems. None. πŸ™…πŸΎ‍♀️. Maybe in the past...but where I am right now, what you'll get from me is you do you...believe what you want, but I sincerely hope Romans 10:9 is a part of it and the Word of God confirms it.

My closing is a verse from a song written by Sullivan Pugh and popularized by The Consolers...

πŸ—£πŸŽ΅

May the life I live, speak for me. When I'm resting in my grave, there's nothing more to be said. May the life I live, let it speak for me...🎡

Just keepin' it real...
